Chris Smalling has been appointed as the Director of Basketball Operations at C.O.DE. Sports Academy, where he will spearhead a dynamic program focused on developing future basketball stars. Known for his strategic insights and exceptional talent for nurturing young athletes, Smalling has an impressive record of success.

Previously, he served as the Director of Boys Basketball at J. Addison School from 2019 to 2025, achieving a remarkable record of 180 wins and 49 losses. Under his leadership, the Jaguars claimed numerous titles, including being the first Canadian team to win the renowned Beach Ball Classic at Myrtle Beach, South Carolina in 2022 and the Canadian True North Kia Championship in 2024. Many of his players have gone on to earn scholarships at prestigious universities such as Georgia Tech (Ibrahim Sacko), Rice University (Eternity Eguagie), George Mason University (Baraka Okojie), Howard University (Ose Okojie), and Chicago State University (Dre Cole).

In 2007, he founded Advantage Basketball, one of Canada's most successful basketball programs. Under his leadership, Advantage Basketball has produced over 250 players who have gone on to compete in post-secondary basketball, including more than 100 scholarship athletes. Notably, the program has also made a mark on the professional basketball scene with the emergence of NBA player Eugene Omoruyi. Smalling’s dedication to developing talent continues to shape the future of basketball in Canada.

Smalling also significantly contributes to girls' basketball by organizing the premier tournament in the country, The Chris Smalling Girls Basketball Tournament.
